July 23, 2009/- Olympic hockey star Jayna Hefford’s charity golf tournament has made a $15,000 donation to support cancer and palliative care at Kingston’s university hospitals. The money was raised through the Jayna Hefford Links 4 Life Golf Classic July 18 at Smugglers Glen Golf and Country Club. Hefford created the golf tournament in memory of her father, Larry, who died from cancer. The announcement was made this morning at Hefford’s hockey school for girls at the InVista Centre in Kingston.
July 20, 2009/- Five local Rotary Clubs in Southeastern Ontario are making a pledge of $95,000 to support the new Pediatric Inpatient Unit at KGH. The donation, which will be included in the $70-million Together We Can campaign, will help children from across the region.
June 30, 2009/- The “Story of Our Hospitals” has been chosen. In voting online, by phone and email, the public has selected The Andy Fund as the top donor story about the university hospitals of Kingston.
“Every story we received was full of courage and hope. It must have been hard for the public to choose just one. We’re very pleased to make The Andy Fund the story of our hospitals,” said Ian Wilson, Chair of the Together We Can campaign.
Carolanne Vair’s heart belongs to Hotel Dieu Hospital, where she worked before she retired. She gives because of what the hospital has done for her and her family.
June 11, 2009/- The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, the fundraising arm of Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care, is reporting a very successful year in 2008-2009.
The Foundation confirmed $26-million in outright gifts and pledges from donors – including $16-million from the commitment by the City of Kingston to the redevelopment of the university hospitals of Kingston.
June 11, 2009/- The search across Southeastern Ontario for donor stories about our hospitals is over. The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation The Story of Our Hospitals project has selected four finalists from the many stories submitted. Now, the public is being asked to pick its favorite story.
June 7, 2009/- The $70-million Together We Can fundraising campaign will celebrate the first anniversary of its public launch Thursday, June 11th. The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation, the fundraising arm of Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston General Hospital and Providence Care, will be announcing the fundraising results from the 2008-2009 fiscal year. It will also announce the four finalists in the Story of Our Hospitals, the project that searched for donor stories about our hospitals from across Southeastern Ontario.
May 29, 2009/- KGH’s Kingston Satellite Dialysis Clinic has relocated to a newly retrofitted area on the second floor of Providence Care’s Mental Health Services site on King Street West.
