Tim Hortons Smile Cookie supports KGH redevelopment Sept. 21-27

September 21, 2009/- Tim Hortons’ customers will once again be “smiling” for patients at Kingston General Hospital during Smile Cookie Week, September 21-27. Tim Hortons Smile Cookies will be on sale next week for $1.00 plus tax at 17 stores across Kingston and area.  For the second year in a row, all the proceeds from the sale of the special, smiling chocolate chunk cookies will go towards the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation to support redevelopment constructions projects at KGH.

“Tim Hortons is thrilled to help bring smiles to Kingston General Hospital through our annual Smile Cookie fundraiser,” says Leanne O'Mara, Special Projects Coordinator, J.E. Agnew Food Services Ltd., Operators of Tim Hortons Kingston.  “The success of the program would not be possible without the support and generosity of our customers. On behalf of all Tim Hortons Kingston, I would like to thank all our staff and customers for their continued support of this meaningful cause.”

In 2008, the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign in Kingston raised $20,000 for redevelopment of KGH.  All the funds raised through the Smile Cookie program will be counted towards the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation’s $70-million Together We Can campaign. The Foundation announced Sept. 11th that the campaign had reached $60-million.

“We are very grateful to Tim Hortons’ customers for their support for our hospitals. Even one Smile Cookie can make a big difference in helping KGH grow. We want to thank the owners and staff at J.E. Agnew Food Services Ltd. for their help in making Smile Cookie Week such a success,” said Ian Wilson, Chair of the Together We Can campaign.

Tim Hortons has been supporting local communities through the “Smile Cookie” program since 1996. The “Smile Cookie” program originally began in Hamilton, Ontario to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, it has expanded across Canada helping a variety of children’s charities, hospitals and community programs.
