August 1, 2008/- The 21st Annual Hotel Dieu Hospital Invitational Golf Tournament has scored a hole in one for the Chances for Children Trust Fund, a fund that provides financial support for families caring for children with physical and/or developmental disabilities who are receiving care at the hospital’s Child Development Centre.
While a final tally of results is still pending, the annual golf tournament is on its way to raising about $30,000 for the trust fund. Since 1988, the tournament has raised more than $380,000 for medical equipment, research, programs, and staff education at Hotel Dieu.
“We’re thrilled that this tournament continues to be a great success and that each year we are able to contribute to a worthy cause at Hotel Dieu,” says Ann Zarichny, tournament Chair. “I’m grateful to the many people who made this year’s tournament so special – the 128 golfers, the sponsors, the staff at Hotel Dieu and many others.”
Held July 11th at Loyalist Golf and Country Club in Bath, the tournament was supported by a number of sponsors, including presenting sponsor BMO Bank of Montreal. Others included Queen's University School of Medicine; HDR/Mill & Ross Architect Inc; Home Cardiographics Inc.; GE Healthcare Technologies Canada; Sanofi Aventis; and Condie Pontiac Buick..
“This is the kind of community support that helps our hospitals continue to provide people in this region with the very best health care services,” says Peter Merkley, Chair of University Hospitals Kingston Foundation. “I know that children and their families at the Child Development Centre benefit in simple yet profound ways from this special fund, so I’m very grateful to everyone involved with the Hotel Dieu Hospital Invitational Golf Tournament for their support.”
The Child Development Centre provides habilitation and rehabilitation services for children and youth with a wide range of disabilities, helping them to thrive in our community.
