Our Donors

Since 2005, more than 40,000 unique donors have given gifts to our hospitals by people across Southeastern Ontario, including individuals, service clubs, faith groups, businesses, and local governments.

  • Fourteen municipalities across the region served by Kingston’s three teaching hospitals have collectively donated $20 million dollars
  • 83 donors made leadership gifts of $100,000 or more
  • 500 community (third party) events have raised more than $3.5 million
  • Almost 23,000 individual donors chose to make a gift to the hospitals for the first time
  • 103 donors provided planned gifts from their estate

We appreciate hearing from our generous supporters  - here are some messages that have accompanied recent donations:

"My wife and I would like to thank all of you for the support and encouragement given to me as I underwent treatment. The cancer team under Dr. Brundage was THE BEST. I would have to write a book in order to say how grateful I am for the wonderful treatment and kindness showed by the cancer centre. I want you to know that I am making a $500 donation to the Cancer program through the Foundation office. Thank you for the work you do, and the way you support patients during this difficult time. Sincerely,"
John (Jack) and Maxine Tedford

"The staff of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre at Hotel Dieu were wonderful. They made my road to recovery from my heart attack much easier to cope with and helped me in maintaining a healthy life style.  Thank you.”
Mr. Michael Campbell

"My sister and I want to express our deepest thanks for the incredible compassion and care you showed towards our Dad, Bruce Duncan, who passed away October 12, 2010. You demonstrated amazing care and sympathy towards the situation of having two parents die in such a short time. We knew our Dad was not going to make it but you were there for us as our advocate with the doctors and you made us feel so well looked after. I cannot express how you made us feel and you have impacted us forever. You are truly two of the the best nurses that we have ever met and I know you will touch the hearts of others in your careers at KGH. With all our love and thanks.”

“Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School would like to make a donation in support of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital. This donation represents the proceeds from the 2nd Annual Rick Thompson Memorial Coffee house, a member of our school caretaking staff who supported many student endeavors over the years. He died at SMOL in November 2009 and experienced the wonderful care and dedication of the staff there over the last weeks of his life. We hope to raise more money at future coffee houses for this same cause.”
Sincerely yours, Chris Forster, Coordinator of Pastoral Services

"My wife and I are extremely grateful for the wonderful care and attention we received during my five weeks at Kingston General. Your staff and medical teams are amazing.
I would love to list the names of all the people who helped us but it would take far too much space and I would undoubtedly forget someone important. Suffice it to say that everyone we dealt with at every level and in every department treated us with compassion, kindness, understanding, humour and incredible skill. We thank them all.

I have enclosed a cheque for $5,000 …to your Foundation in recognition of the wonderful work done by the teams in the ICU. We would also like to donate an additional $1,000 per year beginning on September 24th, 2011 (the anniversary of my release) and for the next ten years."
