Elements of Health Care - Hotel Dieu Hospital Summer High School Student Volunteer Program

The 2010 Elements of Health Care Program is OPEN FOR APPLICATION.  Applications deadline is always the first Friday in June.

Our Elements of Health Care program is designed to introduce secondary school students to the sophisticated world of Health Care careers and programs. Teens will develop personal skills, participate with others in a meaningful volunteer experience and learn about various aspects of Health Care in a hands-on environment.

Certificate of Achievement and letter of completion (upon completion of requirements)

Requirements for 2010 Program:


Minimum age is 14 years or born in or before 1996

Each application must include two reference letters (from non family member) 

Space is limited, however all applicants will be considered

Once selected each volunteer must attend an orientation session, complete required documentation, and a mandatory health screening which will be completed at Hotel Dieu Hospital at no charge

Applicants under the age of 18 must have a completed parental/guardian consent form, which will be provided by Volunteer Resources

Students must be able to attend all orientation dates

Students must attend at least 2 of the workshops and must volunteer their hours over a minimum of 4 weeks during the summer and at least one week must be in August

Applications will be available in the Volunteer Resource office on Jeanne Mance 3, from teh INformatino Desk, here on the Intranet or online at www.hoteldieu.com

Applications must always be received by the first Friday in June.

Interviews will be scheduled during the week of June 7-11 (not any earlier)

KEY DATES:


Orientation session - Wednesday June 30 (9-4)


Learning sessions -  Wednesdays- July 14, July 28 & August 11 (9-noon)


Cetification Event - Wendesday August 18 (tbd)
