February 22, 2011/-KINGSTON, ON – This year’s Kinsmen Dream Home is an 1,850 –square-foot home on Windermere Boulevard in Edgewater Estates, in Bath.
For 23 years, the Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery has enticed thousands of Kingston area residents to pay a little and dream a lot. This year, the top prize is a spectacular bungalow in Bath – but the big winner is Kingston General Hospital.
Proceeds from the sale of the $150 tickets will benefit the hospital’s new child and adolescent unit. Last year, the Kinsmen Club of Kingston pledged $225,000 over three years to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation’s Together We Can campaign in support of the new unit that will be named after the club.
“Helping children in the community has always been a priority for the Kinsmen Club,” explains Kinsmen Life Member Peter Butler. “These are the most vulnerable children in our society and we’re proud to be partnering with the hospital on this.”
The new eight-bed unit on the fourth floor of the expanded Burr wing will support the treatment of youth with mental health issues. It is designed for the unique needs of youth to ensure a supportive, secure environment. The 32,000-square-foot unit will also include 32 adult beds and will complete the consolidation of all acute mental health inpatients beds from Hotel Dieu Hospital to KGH.
Peter is hoping this year’s Dream Home will sell itself and tickets will sell out before the April 3 draw at the Kingston Home Show. Built by Creative Homes by MacAdam, the 1,850-square foot home on Windermere Boulevard in Edgewater Estates is worth half a million dollars.
“This is probably one of the nicest homes we’ve ever offered,” says Peter. “The spa tub and custom walk-out rec room are amazing and we encourage everyone to take a look over the next few weeks so they can see everything the house has to offer.”
The three-bedroom home includes three full bathrooms, a timber-framed great room, a cultured stone fireplace, oversized windows and patio doors and a frameless glass shower.
Tickets are available at various locations in the region including the volunteer services office at KGH.
